Ride42 Track Day with Mike Black

I wanted to give the B bike a run so when Mike suggested a track day we jumped on the next available one. I missed Seb Hothaza at CTMP when he had his racing debut in CSBK Pro Superbike class so it was good to see him at registration and congratulate him on his stellar performance!
I was thrown off in the morning by someone that I thought was a mate telling me that there was a new rule that meant I would not automatically go Pro if I finish 5th in the Am Legends class now that I have a win. He had already taken a few low shots that I just brushed off as attempts at humour but it turned out that he was not happy that I was going to go Pro before him. Anyway that put me on edge for the rest of the day but I still managed to do 5 good sessions with Mike. On the first lap of the first session I totally forgot the layout and blew by Mike on the brakes into OMG at the end of the drag strip straight but then turned onto the runway straight instead and wondered why the cones were in the way! After that it was fun playing with Mike and trying to help him get back on pace but my bike kept running hot – it was getting to around 106C by the end of the sessions.

Friday Practice

Denny suggested I put a new radiator cap on the B bike and flush the rad, I did that but it still ran up over 100C so I switched to the A bike for the afternoon to make sure it was ready for the weekend.
